MEHMEDI MAKES MOVE

Swiss International Admir Mehmedi has made the move from Dynamo Kiev to Bundesliga side Freiburg on a season long loan deal. The Bundesliga club have the option of converting the loan deal into a permanent one should he impress during his time in German football.

The 22-year-old has been one of the promising young players to come from Switzerland in recent years. He started his career with Swiss club FC Zürich back in 2008. He came through the ranks at the club and stayed there for two years before moving to Dynamo Kiev in 2012.

In his single-season at the Ukrainian outfit, he made 25 appearances and scored only one goal. Prior to the move, he was one of the brilliant goal scorers to come from the Swiss Academy. His disappointing season with Dynamo Kiev has resulted in the loan move to Freiburg. Freiburg will be hoping that they have a very decent player on their hands. The German club's sporting director Klemens Hartenbach has revealed that they have been looking at the player for quite some time now. They have decided to sign him up because he is at the right stage in his career.

The player has featured for the Swiss national team on 11 occasions after making his debut in 2011.

"We've been in touch with Admir Mehmedi for many years. We're delighted the transfer went through. He's a very versatile attacking player who understands the game. He's already proven that he can play at the highest level," said the Freiburg sporting director. He has won international goal to his name, but the move to Freiburg is expected to start his international career once again. Switzerland are currently top of their World Cup qualifying group and are expected to make it to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil automatically.
