SHAQUIRI OFF TO BAYERN

There has been a lot of speculation regarding the future of Swiss player Xherdan Shaqiri. He has been linked with German giants Bayern Munich for quite some time now.

Finally, the German club have announced that they have signed the player on a four-year deal in the final few hours of the January transfer window. FC Basel 1893 will now sell the player when the transfer window reopens in the summer. Until then, he will be spending time with his current club FC Basel 1893. This is one of the major moves for a Swiss player in recent times.

Xherdan Shaqiri is a well-known national team player and has made numerous appearances for the Swiss national team. He is regarded as one of the best young talent amongst European football, and by Bayern Munich have moved swiftly to secure his signature.

The 20-year-old youngster has been part of the FC Basel 1893 side since 2009. It is expected that the move will help the FC Basel fund transfer fees for a number of other players. In other significant news, Arsenal's Swiss defender Johan Djourou is excited to extend his stay with Arsenal over the coming months.

Johan Djourou has become an important part of the Arsenal team due to his ability to play across the back four. Arsene Wenger is ready to offer the Swiss defender a new contract.

"I like this club and I want to stay here as long as possible. I currently work in the background, waiting for another chance to show my potential. I have confidence in the future," Johan Djourou after disclosing the news that Arsenal are looking at the prospect of keeping him beyond the end of this current contract. The player is yet to accept the offer on the table from Arsenal.
