Switzerland maintain record

Switzerland has maintained their 100% win record when they beat Faroe Islands 2-0 in their World Cup qualifying match.

This is the 4th win out of 4 games for Switzerland who appears comfortable throughout all the game.

The match started well for Switzerland as they took control of the match from the kick-off. They will open the score in the 27th minute when Derdiyok will receive a great long pass from ValonBehrami. The striker will control the ball perfectly before unleashing a powerful shot past the Faroe Islands goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen to give Switzerland a much-deserved lead.

The match will reach half-time with the score 1-0.
After the break, it will be the same scenario with Switzerland taking full control of the game and denying Faroe Islands possession of the ball. They will be creating chances after chances but will be let down by poor decision making from their strikers.

When they managed to get past the defenders, the Switzerland team will be denied by the post which they strike two times during the game.

However, they will manage to score a second goal in the 83rd minute thanks to Lichtsteiner. The latter will take full advantage of a Ricardo Rodriguez cross and score with a powerful header to make it 2-0 for Switzerland.

The Switzerland coach said he was pleased with the manner his team took control of the game and score the goals. He admitted however that the game was not easy as the Faroe Islands fought for every ball and managed to close down space.

He said that this is a good win that will help build confidence in the team and allow them to prepare the next game in the best possible condition. Switzerland is in the same group as Portugal with only the winner of the group qualifying automatically for the World Cup.
